Warranty

Last updated

Five years on frames and joinery, two on finishes and moving parts, and spare parts kept for every piece we have made.

What is covered

Frames and joinery are covered for five years from the date of delivery. Finishes and moving parts — drawer runners, castors, reclining mechanisms — are covered for two.

The cover is against failure in normal domestic use: a joint that opens, a spring that goes, a runner that seizes, a finish that lifts or flakes where it has not been abused. If a piece fails in a way it should not have, that is ours to put right.

We keep spare parts for every frame we have made. That is the reason most claims end in a visit and a repair rather than a replacement, and it is why we would rather hear about a problem early than after someone has tried to fix it themselves.

What is not covered

Accidental damage, and damage from misuse or from assembly carried out by someone other than us or our carrier.

Fading, movement or splitting caused by sitting a piece in direct sun, hard against a radiator, or in a room that swings between extremes of humidity. Solid timber moves with its environment — that is the material behaving normally, not a fault.

Ordinary wear: marks, patina, and the settling a new piece does in its first weeks, when a foam-and-feather seat drops slightly and takes the shape of the person using it. Neither is a defect.

Commercial use, unless the product page says the piece is rated for it. Contract environments put years of domestic wear through a piece in months.

Making a claim

Email the workshop with your order number and a photograph of the problem. Someone will come back to you within two working days, and we will tell you plainly whether it is a warranty repair, a goodwill repair, or something we cannot help with.

Where a repair is the answer, we arrange it and we pay the freight both ways. Where it is not, we replace the piece or refund it.

The warranty is offered to the original purchaser and is not transferable. Keep your order confirmation — it is the only proof of the delivery date the cover runs from.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

This warranty is given in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and it does not limit them in any way.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss, and to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality. Those rights are not capped at five years, and where this policy and the law disagree, the law wins.
